Evensong
Choral Evensong and Address

Thursdays, 6pm
Tunstal Chapel

The service is of Evening Prayer as found in the Book of Common Prayer and as celebrated in many Cathedrals and Parish Churches. The chapel choir sing many of the parts of the service, and there is a sermon, often given by a visiting preacher, which may form part of a series on an appropriate theme. Evensong finishes in time for Formal Dinner at 7 pm in the Great Hall. Gowns are often worn to Evensong, but are not compulsory.

Communion
Holy Communion

Sundays, 11 am
Tunstal Chapel

The Church of England’s Order of Common Worship is used, with the more traditional Book of Common Prayer on occasions. There are opportunities for prayer and silence. The Chaplain gives an address. The choir usually sings on approximately two Sundays out of three. Any baptized person may receive Holy Communion, and all may receive a blessing. The service is followed by drinks on the Tunstal Gallery.

Compline

Compline

Sundays, 9pm
Norman Chapel

Compline is the name given to a short, late evening service which is traditionally the last of the day. Here it is said by candlelight; there is a simple hymn, a reading and prayers. Led by students, this service lasts about fifteen minutes.
